Upload a film to a gallery
Upload a film into a gallery's layout, send new versions, collect your client's timed notes and approval, and keep its minutes within your plan.
On Pro and Studio you can upload a film into a gallery instead of linking it from YouTube or Vimeo. Xposure keeps your original file and hosts a streaming copy, which plays when your client presses play.
Pro keeps 60 minutes of film and 3,000 minutes of views a month. Studio keeps 300 minutes and 6,000 minutes of views. Hosting starts with a paid plan, so during the trial you link a film instead. The original file counts toward your storage; the minutes cover streaming.
Upload the film
- Open the gallery and select Edit layout.
- In a section, select Add block and choose Video. For a block you already have, select Edit the film.
- Open the Upload a film tab, select Upload a film and pick the file. A film can be up to 30 GB.
- Keep the page open until the upload finishes. After Pause upload or a dropped connection, choose the same file again to resume where it stopped.
- Pick a Shape, and optionally a Title and a poster with Choose a poster.
- Select Apply, then Save layout.
The film shows Processing until it is ready, and visitors see the block from then on. A gallery holds up to 10 films. A film plays only in the gallery it was uploaded into. Duplicating the gallery does not copy it.
Import from Dropbox or Google Drive
- In the Upload a film tab, select Import from a link.
- Paste a link to the file itself and select Import. A Google Drive file must be shared as Anyone with the link.
Xposure fetches the file from the link once and keeps it like an upload. You can close the page. The film shows Receiving the file with how much has arrived, then Processing. One import runs at a time. Dropbox limits how much a free account can share in a day, about 20 GB, so a larger film may fail with Import failed. Upload it from your computer instead.
Send a new version
Next to the film, select Upload a new version, or Import a new version to bring it in from a link. Your client keeps watching the current version until the new one is ready, then sees the new one.
Older versions stay listed under the film, each with Download original and Delete. They count toward your minutes and storage until you delete them or your client approves a newer one.
With proofing on, everyone you invited to the gallery gets an email when a new version is ready. Without proofing, or with no one invited, the new version replaces the old one without an email.
Notes and approval
With proofing on, your client sees Approve version with the number under the playing film. They confirm, and you get an email. The film list shows Approved.
With Let them write notes also on, your client pauses the film and writes a note, which saves at that moment of the film. Read the notes, play from each one and export them for your editor on the Favourites tab. See Read your client's picks.
Important: Approving a version deletes every older version of that film, with its original. Your client cannot undo an approval. A version you upload afterwards starts unapproved.
Watch your minutes
Film in Settings, Plan & Billing shows the minutes kept and the minutes watched this month across all your galleries. Views reset on the 1st of each month (UTC).
We email you at 80% and at 100% of your monthly views. Films keep playing up to 125%. Past that, films pause until the 1st and visitors see a short notice that the film is paused.
Add film minutes
- In Settings, Plan & Billing, go to Switch plan or add storage.
- Under Film minutes, set the number of add-ons, up to 10. Each adds 100 minutes kept and 2,000 minutes of views a month for €5 ($6) a month, or €50 ($60) a year.
- Check the Summary, then select Confirm change and Confirm & pay.
Paused films play again as soon as the add-on is on your plan.
Download the original
In the video block's Upload a film tab, select Download original next to a version. You get the file you uploaded. Films uploaded before originals were kept show No original kept and have no download.
Delete a film
In the video block's Upload a film tab, select Delete next to the film, then Delete for good. Deleting a gallery deletes its films too.
Note: The original file is stored with your photos in Western Europe. The streaming copy is kept and played by Cloudflare Stream, outside the EU. See the privacy policy.
