Move your galleries over, one at a time.
There is no importer. You download the originals from Pixieset, Pic-Time or wherever they live now, upload them to a new gallery and send your client the new link. Keep the old account until the last client has moved.
Six steps, in this order.
Plan an evening for a few galleries, and keep the old account running until the move is done.
- 01
Decide what to move
List the galleries your clients still use: open deliveries, galleries still selling, anything with a closing date ahead. Finished galleries can stay where they are until the old account ends.
- 02
Check the storage
Add up the originals and leave room for previews. A RAW file counts about 1.6 times its size. Plans include 20 GB on Starter, 250 GB on Pro and 2 TB on Studio, and extra storage comes in 50 GB blocks.
- 03
Export the originals
Download the full-size files of each gallery, one folder per gallery. Note the client’s name and email, the PIN, the closing date, the free downloads and any prices. On Pro and Studio you can export from Lightroom Classic straight into a gallery instead.
- 04
Recreate each gallery
Make a new gallery and drop the photos in. Split it into sets if the old one had them, type in the client’s PIN, and set the downloads, the closing date and the watermark. The next gallery can copy its downloads, prices and watermark.
- 05
Send the new links
The old links do not lead to Xposure, so every client needs the new one. Use Send to client: it emails the link and the PIN, under a line from you saying the gallery has moved.
- 06
Close the old account last
Keep it until every client has downloaded what they need. Each gallery’s Insights tab shows who has been in, so you can see when they have arrived.
What moves, and what stays behind.
Everything you upload comes across. What your clients did on the old service does not.
- Photos
- You move them: download the originals there, upload them here. Photos already in a gallery are skipped, so after a failed upload you can select the same photos and drop them again.
- PINs
- A 4-digit PIN keeps working if you type it into the new gallery. PINs here are always 4 digits, so any other PIN changes and the invite carries the new one.
- Settings
- Free downloads, prices and the watermark can be copied from a gallery you already set up. The closing date is set on each gallery.
- Your domain
- Moves when your portfolio is ready, on Starter and up. Until you point it here it keeps showing your old site.
- Favourites, notes and orders
- Stay on your old service, with guest lists and past orders. Keep a copy of anything you still need before you close it.
Custom domain
Your domain can move too.
Add it once your portfolio is ready. Type the domain into the dashboard, add the DNS records it shows at your domain provider, and the address starts pointing at your Xposure portfolio instead of the old site.
- Starter and up
- DNS records shown in the dashboard, added at your domain provider
- The old site stops showing once the records verify
Common questions
What photographers ask before they move a paying client's gallery.
Can Xposure import my galleries from Pixieset or Pic-Time?
No. There is no importer. You download the full-size originals from your old service, upload them to a new gallery here and send your client the new link. A few galleries take an evening.
Will my clients need a new PIN?
Only if their old PIN was not 4 digits. Type a 4-digit PIN from the old gallery into the new one and it keeps working. PINs on Xposure are always 4 digits, so any other PIN changes.
How much storage will my galleries need?
Add up the originals and leave room for previews. A RAW file counts about 1.6 times its size. Plans include 20 GB on Starter, 250 GB on Pro and 2 TB on Studio, and extra storage comes in 50 GB blocks.
What does not come across?
Favourites, notes, guest lists and past orders stay on your old service. Keep a copy of anything you still need from them before you close the account.
When should I cancel my old service?
Last. Keep it until every client has the new link and has downloaded what they need. Each gallery’s Insights tab shows who has been in, with their visits and downloads, so you can see when they have arrived.
Can my own domain move too?
Yes, on Starter and up. When your portfolio is ready, add the domain in the dashboard and the DNS records it shows at your domain provider. From then on the domain shows your Xposure portfolio instead of the old site.
