Get paid out and refund a client
Find your payouts, refund a payment and answer a dispute in your Stripe dashboard, and know what a refund changes in Xposure.
Payouts, refunds and disputes are handled in your Stripe dashboard, not in Xposure. Every sale is paid into your own Stripe account, and Stripe pays it out to your bank.
Open your Stripe dashboard
- Open Settings, Integrations.
- Under Stripe Connect, select Manage on Stripe. The button shows once your account is connected and can take payments and payouts.
Exposure has the same link as Open Stripe dashboard.
Payouts
Stripe pays your balance out to the bank account you gave it. Your Stripe dashboard shows your balance, upcoming payouts and the payments in each one. To change the bank account, do it there.
Refund a payment
- In your Stripe dashboard, find the payment.
- Refund it in full or in part.
A refund is paid from your Stripe balance. Xposure's fee and Stripe's processing fee on the original payment are not returned, so a full refund costs you those fees.
What a refund changes in Xposure depends on what was sold:
- Downloads: a full refund turns off the photos that payment bought. Their download link says the order was refunded, and your client can buy them again. A partial refund is recorded and changes nothing else.
- Session deposits and balances: the refund shows in the booking's payment history, and the balance due goes up by the refunded amount. The booking itself stays booked.
- Prints, before the lab: a refund, full or partial, stops the order, and it is not sent to the lab.
- Prints at the lab or shipped: the prints are still made and delivered.
Important: For a print order that has not reached the lab, use Reject and refund on the order instead. It cancels the order and refunds your client for the prints in one step. See Check and approve print orders.
Disputes
When a client disputes a payment with their bank, answer it in your Stripe dashboard. A print order with an open dispute is not sent to the lab.
