Head to head
picdrop vs ShootProof
Both send a client a link to a shoot, and that is where the resemblance ends. picdrop is a review and approval tool for professional workflows, where an agency or an editor has to sign off on frames. ShootProof is a client gallery platform with a print store and studio tools, built for couples and families buying their photos. The choice is really about who opens the link and whether money changes hands in the gallery.
The short answer
picdrop is the better approval surface: yes, no and maybe flags, drawing directly on an image, comments per file, and team seats with shared inboxes. It states plainly that it does not sell photos and has no plans to, so it cannot carry print or download sales. ShootProof is the better delivery business: print and digital sales at 0% commission on every plan, including the free one, with client booking, contracts and retainers on the same subscription. They also meter differently. picdrop sells storage, from 14.99 euros a month plus VAT for 500 GB. ShootProof sells a photo count, from $9.99 a month for 1,500 photos.

Choose picdrop when
picdrop is the better fit
- Your client is an art director, an agency or a picture editor approving frames.
- You need yes, no and maybe flags, and comments drawn on the image.
- You work in a team and need seats, shared inboxes and permissions.
- You deliver large shoots and would rather pay for storage than per photo.
Choose ShootProof when
ShootProof is the better fit
- You sell prints or digital downloads from the gallery.
- Your clients are consumers: couples, families and seniors.
- You want booking with contracts and retainers on the same bill as your galleries.
- You want a free plan that can take a real sale with no commission.
What neither of them does
If you need both an approval round and consumer sales, that is two subscriptions here. picdrop also prices in euros before VAT while ShootProof bills in US dollars, so compare the totals you would actually pay.
For the record, we build Xposure, which bundles a portfolio, client galleries and a booking manager into one plan from €8 ($9)/mo. That is the only mention it gets on this page. If you want it argued properly, read Xposure vs picdrop or Xposure vs ShootProof.
