If you teach photography, run a newsletter, or answer the same "what do you use to send galleries" question in a Facebook group every week, you have been doing unpaid sales work for whichever platform you happen to like.
The Xposure ambassador programme is now open. You get a link and a discount code. Your audience gets 10% off their first twelve months. You earn 30% of what they pay for their plan, for as long as your partnership runs.
What it actually pays
Commission is 30% of the plan price, after your audience's discount has come off it. On yearly billing, which is the default at checkout and what most people choose, one referral looks like this:
| Plan | They pay in year one | You earn |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | EUR 72 | EUR 21.60 |
| Pro | EUR 162 | EUR 48.60 |
| Studio | EUR 315 | EUR 94.50 |
Those are first-year figures with the 10% discount applied. When it expires after twelve months your referral pays full price, and your commission on each renewal goes up accordingly.
It is 30% of the subscription plan. Extra storage bought on top of a plan is not included, because the discount you hand out does not apply to storage either. The two cover exactly the same thing, which is the only version of this that is explainable to both sides.
Who this is for
Not everyone, deliberately. It works best if you already have people who ask you what you use:
- Photographers who teach. Workshops, courses, mentoring. Your students need somewhere to put client work on day one.
- Writers and reviewers. If you publish comparisons or gear and workflow posts, this is the kind of thing your readers are already searching for.
- Community organisers. Facebook groups, Discords, local meetups, anywhere the same delivery question comes round every month.
If you have an audience of five people, this will not make you money and we would rather say so than have you find out over three months.
How you get credited
Two ways, and either one is enough on its own.
Someone who arrives through your link is credited to you when they create an account, for up to 90 days after they clicked it. Someone who types your code at checkout is credited to you whether or not they ever touched your link. If both signals exist and they disagree, the code wins, because typing it is a deliberate act and a cookie is just a browser setting.
Free accounts and trials earn nothing. A paid invoice is what triggers a commission, so nothing accrues until your referral actually becomes a customer.
When you get paid
Every commission is held for 30 days after the payment that produced it, so the refund window can close. After that it becomes payable and you can request a payout once your balance reaches EUR 50. We pay by bank transfer, by hand, usually within a few working days.
If a payment is refunded, the commission on it reverses. If it had already been paid to you, it comes off your next payout. We will not ask you to send money back. When a partnership ends we pay out whatever is owed once the hold has passed, however small, without applying the EUR 50 minimum.
Bank details are asked for at your first payout request, not at signup. Nobody should have to hand over an IBAN to find out whether a referral programme is worth their time.
What you can see
Your dashboard shows your link, your code, how many people signed up through you, how many converted, what you have earned by month, and what is on hold versus payable.
What it does not show is who your referrals are. No names, no email addresses. They are our customers and their business is theirs, and an ambassador is owed a number rather than a list of who bought what.
The rules, briefly
The full terms are at xposureapp.net/ambassadors/terms and they are short enough to actually read. The parts people ask about:
- Partnerships run 12 months from acceptance and get renewed when they are working.
- Do not bid on our brand name in paid search, and do not post your link in comment sections or unsolicited email.
- Disclose that you earn a commission wherever the law where you or your audience live requires it. Where you are unsure, disclose.
- Referring yourself does not count.
How to apply
Head to xposureapp.net/ambassadors and tell us where you publish and who reads it. If we say yes you get an invite email, and accepting it gives you your link, your code and your dashboard straight away.
If you are still working out where photography referrals fit alongside the rest of your marketing, our posts on getting found on Google and choosing a niche are the sensible things to read first. Recommending a tool you already use is the easiest revenue in that list, but it is not a substitute for any of it.
